Eegah mocks endlessly those lesser clients. 80 characters is the length of most clients.so we play it safe and aim for 75. Abrahil says, "Those are the two rules for converting ASCII art to MUSH. You'll need Sun's Java Runtime Environment installed to run it. JAVE can help you find out how tall, and wide, your image is: The art should stay at roughly 75 characters or under because most MU clients default at a width of about 80 characters. Art should stay under 75 characters wide 2. Whatever you create, though, there are some guidelines specific to MUSHing to follow:ġ. JAVE has alot to offer for ASCII-creation. JAVE has some great tutorials on its website, but I don't think it has a breakdown quite like that. Abrahil says, "You might want to keep the screenshot. Abrahil says, "It has anti-aliasing options, too. :) And bezier-curves." Myrana says, "Oooo, stylus ASCII? That's insane." It runs on JAVA, so will work, in theory, on any operating system capable of supporting it. JAVE is a free program that's something like Photoshop for ASCII art creation. What if I told you you could use a stylus? It requires alot of spacing and backspacing, and is generally rather messy. ASCII-art creation is generally done in programs like Notepad. What software can you use to create ASCII art? Is it complicated to use? Does it come with an expensive price tag?įortunately, the answer to the last two are no, and they're free. Abrahil says, "If anyone has any questions at this stage, I'll pause. :) Otherwise, I'll go ahead to part 2 and the elf pro=.ahem. If there aren't any, I'll go ahead and proceed to Part Two. :) That's, really, all of part one. :) I'll go ahead and pause for questions here. The second is also a good tutorial: it's just prettier, and has more of a modern format. The first is an older, established tutorial, and if her methods don't work for you, she lists alternate tutorials near the bottom of the page. Two, well-established tutorials I'd like to suggest are: Luckily, there are a number of fine tutorials out there already, and they can be taken aside, and used comfortably at your own pace and time. ![]() You can follow along with screenshots. :)Ĭovering the "how to draw" of ASCII art is a little beyond the scope of the time we have, today. If you still don't feel comfortable, that's more'n fine. Please remember that all the normal caveats apply=any programs I suggest that are nifty, or useful, you install at your own risk, and so on. :) I've used these programs for years, so I feel comfortable recommending them, but installing any software still involves a risk. So, let's begin. :) Please hold your questions until I pause for them: I'll be pausing at the end of each section. ![]() Part One: Demonstrate how to bring ASCII art into a MUSH setting, cleanly and painlessly.Part Two: Provide some free, universally available tools for making ASCII art.Part One: Provide a list of resources for learning ASCII art.You say, "So what will this tutorial cover? ![]() It can be effective: it can also be spammy and can also be one hell of alot of fun. :)" We aren't looking for alot of graphics, so.just to beat a dead horse, be careful when you do use it. What we have to remember here, though: this isn't WoW. I'm here, and I imagine a good number of others are here, because we enjoy storytelling, and because there's a certain flair or flavor to text-based games.Ībrahil says, "For example, here's an example of something a storyteller might use ASCII art for (ala Tolkien): "For effect" also implies that we don't overuse it, and that we take care when we do. We use it for the same reason they did on the old BBS systems. We can do even better than TheDraw (an old DOS program) when it comes to the canvas of ASCII art.īut, before I get to that: why use ASCII art? This means, when it comes to ASCII art, we're not stuck with more limited tools like TED, or even Notepad. It populated old BBS systems as a way to get around the lack of GIFs or JPGs, and exists today in everyday communication.Īs part of a MUSH, we're a part of this older technology, though we have the benefit of a few decades behind us. ASCII art has been around as long as the 'net has.

And after subsisting on a diet of yogurt, crackers, canned tuna and mouthfuls of desert dust for a few days on the road, we were ready for some tasty camp food. Having the opportunity to pitch a tent on a peaceful beach with the waves breaking and the sky overflowing with brilliant stars is extra special. Now we’re slowly working our way up the coast of Chile, where many of the beaches are wide open for public use, fishing, and camping. Think of ways you can prep food ahead of time so you can save time and clean up while camping.Emerging from Paso San Francisco into the Atacama Desert in Chile Chop up veggies, peel potatoes and carrots, and mix up dressing. If you are having pulled pork sandwiches, make the pulled pork ahead of time and place in a gallon sized baggie in your cooler so you can simply add that as a filling. Anything you can do ahead of time will make it so it is easier to cook while camping. It helps us eat well while in the mountains while making it so we are spending our whole time prepping, cooking, and cleaning up. This tip is for meals while camping in general and not just for pie irons. Paninis and hot sandwiches * Stuffed French Toast * Cookies * Chicken Pot Pies * Sloppy Joes * Quesadillas * Apple Pies * Brownies * Hash Browns * S'Mores If I am making pizza, I use pizza dough, and If I am making a breakfast, I use biscuit dough. If I am making a dessert, I use puff pastry. However, unless I am making a sandwich, I really like to use dough. Slices of bread are a very easy thing to use, especially when camping. The most common way to create meals in the pie iron, that I have seen, is to use pieces of bread and then your own filling. I know I am going to sound over enthusiastic when I say this, but the possibilities are endless! You can make everything from burritos to cinnamon rolls. You can also use a rock and prop the long handle in the right position so you don't have to hold it the whole time. If it is at an angle or leaning down, the corner or edge closest to the coals will cook faster than everything else. TIP: Hold your pie iron so it is as horizontal (flat) as possible. The cast iron will cook more evenly if you cook over coals instead of flames. You will want to wait until the fire dies down a bit. I love my Electro-Torch! Find it on Amazon. I like that it is a chemical free way to get my fire lit FAST! It really doesn't take long at all to have a roaring open flame. I use my Electro-Torch from HomeRight to start fires in my backyard fire pit. ![]() I place mine upside down so in case there is any excess oil, it can drip out instead of forming a thick area on the inside. Place it in the oven at 450 degrees for 1 hour. ![]() To season your pie iron, coat it with a thin coat vegetable oil or any oil that can handle high heat. Seasoning it yourself will ensure that your food will pop right out, just like mine in this post. As I was reading the reviews on various irons, the number one reason someone gave it a bad review was that their food stuck to the inside of the pie iron. They are such a fun way to up your campfire cooking game! Season Your Pie IronĮven if the packaging states that it is pre-seasoned, you should still season your cast iron pie iron before use. They were $10 each and I got one for each family member. There is a big range of prices, so shop around to find the best deal. You can find then at just about any camping and sporting goods store. Voice changers are software programs that allow users to modify their voice. Some popular TTS programs are Murf.ai, Typecast.ai, and Google TTS. Anyone can use TTS to convert written text into voice-overs and audio narration. Text to speech (TTS) tools generate audio files by converting text into speech in just a few clicks. Rather than recording each piece of content separately, one can quickly replicate a voice for new content or multiple voices. Voice cloning software can be invaluable, offering several advantages, like saving time and money. AI-driven voice cloning is possible with just a few minutes of recording. Voice cloning is used for highly accurate voice impressions and is a boon for production studios.Ĭloning a voice used to require long datasets, but this is no longer the case. With the help of neural networks, users clone voices from existing audio sources. Voice cloning is a process that uses artificial intelligence to create a replica of any voice. ![]() Among them are text to speech, voice changers, and voice cloning tools. Several online tools enable audio production with their online text to speech programs. What are some of the different tools for generating speech online? Regardless, many text to speech programs generate high-quality voice-overs and do other work. So even if their libraries offer more voices, you’ll lack the quality and accuracy of a professional. So most of these tools lack the subtleties of the original performer. Therefore, it’s essential to understand that FakeYou, Uberduck.ai, and other online text to speech tools are still mainly impressionistic takes on popular characters and celebrities. While AI text to speech programs are improving, they are years away from being able to replicate the same nuances used by professional voice actors. Using celebrity or character AI voice-over software is a gray area at best, but we’ll discuss the complexities briefly. So, instead of being voiced by Tom Kenny, they generate unnatural audio. This is because most Spongebob text to speech programs are not recordings of the original voice actor. ![]() ![]() One of these critical issues is the voice quality in a text to speech program. Spongebob Text to Speech Voice Generator: Why They’re No GoodĬreating scripts, doing streams, or making your animation videos using Spongebob’s voice is a neat idea, but typically the output leaves something to be desired. This article will discuss the factors that make most SpongeBob text to speech programs bad. However, the fact remains that there are several caveats to trying to use the giddy, pineapple-dwelling sea sponge’s voice to convert text into audio. It’s not always about what you need to use the voices for, but how they sound. In addition, it’s unlikely that content creators and YouTubers are using Spongebob text to speech programs for anything other than pranks or jokes. Despite larger voice sample libraries, most tools still need help with consistency and quality. Many text to speech programs fall short of producing a convincing Spongebob voice. ![]() ![]() A few examples of the types of rafters used in construction are listed below.įigure 2: Common rafter types of a house roof framing. The specific design and configuration of rafters will depend on factors such as roof’s shape, slope and the structural requirements of the building. By distributing the load evenly, rafters ensure that the structure remains stable and can withstand various external forces, such as wind and snow loads. The primary function of rafters is to transfer the weight of the roof to the walls or other load-bearing elements of the structure. They are inclined beams that extend from the ridge of the roof to the eaves and support the roof covering material, such as shingles or tiles.įigure 1: An example of exposed timber rafters landing on a lintel. ![]() Rafters are structural elements that form the framework of a roof. But have you ever wondered how it stays up there without crashing down like a house of cards? Picture this: you're standing beneath a roof, admiring its structure. So, grab your hard hats, dust off your drafting pencils, and let’s raise the roof, both literally and figuratively. We will also discuss different materials used for rafters, such as wood, steel, and cold-formed steel, along with practical tips for rafter design and analysis. In this article, we will explore the definition, function, and various types of roof rafters, including their unique features and applications. They are essential components that provide strength and support to the roof system. Rafters play a crucial role in supporting the roof, distributing its weight evenly, and ensuring the overall stability and integrity of the structure. In any structural design project, the importance of roof rafters cannot be overstated. Even though roof trusses are more commonly used than rafters, they do not provide the same versatility and space for creativity that rafters allow. Choosing the right “hat” for your building will depend on several factors, such as wall layout, ceiling type, and architectural features. |
